As you can see from the accompanying images, Newton Transport has been around for a number of years. The company was started in 1974 by the present Managing Director, John Newton, who bought an Atkinson Borderer Mark 2 and operated with 1 telephone, 1 chair and 1 desk from the upstairs of a transport café.
The following year, after a difficult initiation in business, he bought his second vehicle, a Mark 1 Seddon Atkinson Sleeper. This was supplied to Nightingales of Balham and was the sixth Seddon off the production line at Preston.
John was joined firstly by his son, David Newton in 1985, followed by Simon Newton in 1988 and together they have developed the business to the size it is today, employing some 40 staff with an annual turnover in excess of £4 Million.
